Day 6-7 Las Vegas

We checked into our hotel in North Las Vegas late Wednesday night and stayed till Saturday (my birthday!).

On our first day, we slept in and started moving around later in the day.  We were pretty tired from the previous few days and it was just nice to be in one place for a few days.  When we finally got up and ready to go out, we went down to The Strip.  We parked near the Riviera and started walking.  We walked thru most of the casinos and people watched.

shhh...not while I'm driving.

Cherry Icee=gross.

On Friday we did a little more resting before heading to the Hoover Dam.  It started to rain on our way there...so we stopped in Boulder City (just a few miles away from the Dam).  We ate at Mel's Diner and waited for the rain to pass.  It rained a LOT!  The local that I talked to said it's unusual for it to rain like that.  Apparently rain followed us from NM.

Wow.
Mmmm...

Now THAT is a Big Dam Bridge...

The night we went to the Rave and watched The Help (Mom has been reading it to me while I drive).  I thought I missed a lot the first time I saw it, but turns out in total I probably only missed 10 minutes.  After that we drove down The Strip to take pictures, but my camera likes to act like a brat so not many came out clear.

Futha...Nathan, Lukas this is for you......(inside joke)

I wish I would've seen this more than twice...once during the day and once at night.
It made me sad to come here without Chris or Rachel...no familiar faces either  :(

Mom embarrassed me by asking if they'd take a picture with me o.O
Sorry I can't say there was any crazy business....it'd be strange to say the least to "party" with my mom.  Neither of us gamble or drink (esp me since I was the one doing the driving)....so this was probably not the ideal place for us, but I'm glad we went anyway.  I'll go back for sure...I'd stay too, but it's really hot and hardly ever rains.  I'd miss the rain.

I keep hearing from a couple people back home that it's really nice there...and I love the fall.  I'm a little sad I'm missing my favorite season, but I'm out here doing something I want to do, so I guess it's worth the sacrifice.

Anyway.

California updates are up next!
