10/21-10/29 Las Vegas

When I left off last, I had just started my first day of training.  Well, I started my first day by myself yesterday....it was kind of a hot mess, but it was my first night.  I'm at it again tonight, and it's gone very smooth.  But let me catch up with what has been going on first.......

I've applied to quite a few places, but haven't heard back.  No big deal.  I'll worry with a job once I get to San Diego if I don't get one soon.  I've already booked my flight back to Arkansas for December 14-28.  First order of business is probably going to be Senor Tequila, so, Michelle, BE READY!  I decided to come back before New Years since I've never spent my NYE somewhere other than Arkansas.

I got my Halloween costume...pretty much bought it to dress up, take pictures, send them to Mom, then take the whole thing back.  But after so much positive feedback, I kept it.  It's gonna be a cold night, that's for sure!

Poker Face.
I've been spending time by the pool trying to get a little tan...the pool is WAAAAY too cold to get in though.  It's starting to get a little cooler here too anyway.  Which isn't really helping the cough I STILL have.  I've been to the doctor twice since I've been here.  This time she just gave me an inhaler, antibiotics, and steroids.  I was supposed to get some more cough syrup, which I desperately need for when I go to sleep, but Walgreens and her office are having some miscommunication I guess.

Pretty little sunlight through palm trees.
I went to Walmart with Asaf and Lucie to help her get stuff for James's birthday.  I finally got a chain to replace my other necklace...the robot, St Christopher, and my Hebrew word is back in business!  I had some Moscato for the first time in a while that night while eating some fantastic food my Israeli friends whipped up.  I should've saved it for the Birthday party, but it was calling my name that night.

Tuesday was James's birthday...it was a nice little gathering of the hostel workers eating cake, drinking champagne, and going down to Fremont Street to hang out.

James trying to hit the piƱata.
I wish I could post the video Nick shot of this...

Once he got it down, he stomped it open.

The next day Horev and I went to Red Rock Canyon...that place...as soon as this pesky cough is gone will be my new playground!  We went late in the afternoon so we didn't have much time out there and it was ridiculously cold!

Horev and me.
These rocks were so awesome looking!
And very fun to climb around on!
I want to find the source of the water...

Lovely background.
Right before we went to Red Rock Canyon I got the message that Shelby finally had baby Ryan!  Not that I'm sure Horev cared one bit about a picture of a baby, but I was so excited I showed him each picture I got the rest of the night.  We went out to eat at Cheeburger Cheeburger since it was kind of on our way back.  There's been some changes to the menu...I applied the other day and the waitress asked me if that was me and she told me she'd let her manager know she met me.  So maybe I can get that as a part time gig?  It's kind of far from where I'm staying is the only problem.

I held my phone like I would hold a baby...I can't wait to meet him!
Tonight I went to see Louis CK at the Pearl in the Palms.  Unfortunately, even though he was really funny, I couldn't enjoy myself like I wish I could've.  I was scared laughter would induce coughing fits which I was already fighting.  He said he was going to film this stand up at the end of next month, and I can't wait to see it polished!  And not sick so I can laugh till I start crying...like I did that one time.

My ticket.
For having balcony seats, I had a pretty good view.
Well....everything in this update is all over the place.  I've got to start keeping up in my daily journal thing so I can update better.  This is really all I can remember happening in the past week.  I caught up on some sleep, hung out with my friends, and trained and now I'm flying solo.  Hope everybody is doing well.  I am (other than this annoying cough!!!) and having fun.  The next few weeks are going to fly by...I think I'll really be sad when it's over.  But that's a long time from now, so no need to worry about it.  Shouldn't worry about it even then.

PS...my interest in all things Jewish has only been heightened, and now I'm off to decipher this note I had Horev write me in Hebrew!

10/17-10/20 Las Vegas

Monday was a chill day.  After training, I pretty much loafed around the rest of the day.  I was told I need to learn how to do the night audit (which is done at 4 am), so I went ahead and did that Tuesday morning.  It only takes an hour, so I was up at 3:30 am and back in bed by 5:30.

Tuesday, I got up and went down to the pool to lay out.  The water was ridiculously cold so there was absolutely no way I was getting in.  I'll go ahead and put up the pictures of the hostel now...

Aline and my room...she's hardly ever here tho so it's like having it to myself!
pool and hot tub (it's not hot).

Reception...I just met that girl, and can't remember her name at the moment...
James in the kitchen, which is nice and big.
Game room & Horev and Asaf in hang out room.
TV room.
After I was done laying out, I got dressed to and headed to the Venetian thinking I might get to see the Western Republican Presidential Debate.  You had to have tickets for it, which I didn't have.  I was mostly upset that I wasn't going to see Anderson Cooper.  I ended up walking around for a while and got a bite to eat before going back to the hostel.  Asaf and Horev (two peas in a pod from Israel) were in the kitchen making food (which is where I can usually find those two).  I just stayed in there with them when Zynall comes in talking about watching the debate and I told him I had just got back from where they were filming it hoping to see Anderson Cooper.  Then we got all excited that maybe when he's done filming for his show we could see him.  So, Zynall and I went back down to the Venetian.  We didn't have any luck, but he showed me how to park at the casinos so it wasn't a complete waste.  We also went to Treasure Island and watched their show and just walked around for a while.  He kept asking if I had seen this show and that show and after saying "No" to most, he decided we were going to go out again and he was gonna show me all of them.

Behind THOSE doors is where the debate was being held.

Treasure Island show.....

My new car.......<3
Wednesday, I laid out by the pool again.  This time I got in the not hot hot tub.  Afterwards I got dressed to go buy my Halloween costume.  I saw Zynall before leaving and he joined me.  We went to Party City, TJ Max, Target, Payless, Sally's, Albertsons, and a couple of other stores I hadn't expected to go to, but each one served a purpose...and was mostly aimed at finding the right stuff for my recently purchased costume.  We got back and he went to get ready so we could go to the Strip.  Zynall, Horev, and I loaded up and headed for Caesar's Palace.  We walked around the Forums shop and watched the Atlantis Show.  Then we went to the Mirage to watch the Volcano Show.  Then we went to the Bellagio  to watch the Fountains.  I think the Fountains are my favorite.  We did quite a bit of walking around in Caesar's and Bellagio.  After the Fountain show, we headed over to Planet Hollywood before deciding it was time to go home.  We made a stop in Caesar's Poker room...I'm no poker expert, but I've gone with Chris and watched him and even some on TV to know the people there were terrible.  We finally got back around 2 am and I was pooped!  No nap all day.  o.O

Those "people" were really creepy...and you couldn't hardly hear what was being said.
Zynall, me, and Horev
Awesome spiral escalator.
Volcano Show
Makes me wish I would've seen the real thing at night.

The Bellagio has a really pretty fall set up....When Mom and I were here they had just started changing it.  I can't wait to see what it'll look like for Christmas!

Bellagio Water Fountain-"All That Jazz"

It was so hard for me to drag my butt out of bed this morning for training, but I did and accidentally started cooking breakfast for myself.  It started out at just bacon, then eggs and toast, and a pancake.  All I wanted was yogurt and I ended up with that!  Good way to start the day.  I've been drinking a lot of hot tea since it's so readily available.  Anyway, so that's what I've been up to the past few days.  I've got to get to bed because I'm doing night audit again tonight to make sure I've got it down.

The weather here right now is pretty fantastic, btw.
It's still really weird for me to think "I really actually like it here!" but I do.  This was one place I thought I'd never visit, let alone visit and like.  But I'm having fun, and plan to get a job by Monday by golly!  I got a free place to stay, now all I need is some extra cash!  :)
